Is the color permanent? Yes, the black color is permanent. The mixture of oils and waxes used for finishing impregnates the surface layer of the products, resulting in a lasting, water-resistant black color.

Are the cutting boards and other products food-safe?
Yes, the products are food-safe. For finishing, I use a blend of natural oils and waxes that is specifically developed for treating cutting boards and is food-safe once fully cured.

Do the products require maintenance?
No, the products do not require additional oiling or maintenance during use. They can be washed by hand under running water or cleaned with a damp cloth. Washing in a dishwasher may damage the product.

How long do the products remain in good condition?
I made my first cutting boards about four years ago, and despite intensive use in a home kitchen, they still look great. Knife marks are visible, of course, but that’s completely natural with any cutting board or similar product in regular use.

Are knife marks visible on the cutting boards?
Yes, just like with all cutting boards, knife marks will appear on mine as well when cutting. However, these marks do not penetrate the charred surface layer that coats the wood.

How thick is the charred layer on the product?
The charred layer is very thin, estimated to be up to 0.2 mm thick.
